Have you ever worked so hard on something or for something, and then things just start falling apart, and you finally said, “You know what, it’s not worth it!” It’s that desire to run away and forget it!  In spite of your best efforts and all your hard work, something or someone gets in the way and you just say, “It’s not worth it.”

Who hasn’t been there? But God has an answer for us when we’re ready to throw in the towel. In 1 Corinthians 4:2 we read, “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” Christ has always been faithful to us, hasn’t he? I think of Carol Cymbala’s song, “He’s been faithful, faithful to me,” and you and I can sing that song with her. God has always been faithful to us. Aren’t you glad he never gives up on you?

Well, as his child, his disciple, you have been given a trust to do what he’s given you to do and to prove faithful—faithful to the end. I just love people who hang in to the end; they seem to be few and far between sometimes, but those are the people I want on my team.

So, if you’ve been thinking, “It’s not worth it” to hang in there and keep on keepin’ on, I want to remind you today of Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Did you hear that? In all things God works for our good. All things.

So, don’t give up; don’t run away; don’t lose heart. God says it will be worth it. Reminds me of an old song with good words: “It will be worth it all when we see Jesus. Life’s trials will seem so small when we see Christ. One glimpse of his dear face, all sorrow will erase. So bravely run the race ‘til we see Christ.”
