What did Jesus mean when he told us that life is found on the narrow road? It almost sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? Here’s how Jesus put it:

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).

This seems backwards to our minds. Shouldn’t the road to life be broad and easy; one that the majority of people choose? Well, as is so often the case, we keep thinking that God operates like we do, but the truth is that his ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts. So, as convoluted as it may seem to us, the truth is that real abundant life, full of meaning and joy, are ours when we choose the small gate and the narrow road.

Well, what does that mean? Why is the road to life narrow? Why do so few choose it? Those are some of the issues we’re going to address in this year’s 25th Annual Weekend Getaway, April 19 -21, here in the Chicago area. And we are so blessed that Kay Arthur will be with us for the weekend. Who better to help us understand the joy of life on the narrow road. This is the life we were meant to live, and when we really “get it,” we find it’s true. God’s road, though narrow, is full of all the things that make our lives meaningful.

I hope you’ll plan to join us April 19 -21 for this landmark 25th annual weekend getaway. In addition to Kay Arthur, Damaris Carbaugh will join us again, we have great music planned and very relevant workshops. We stay in a lovely Westin hotel, with all the amenities, and the fellowship with other women is rare indeed. It’s a very diverse group of women, and you’ll love being with them.
