I wonder, have you ever made a choice that looked easy and right, but later you realized you had been deceived? That was what Jesus was talking about when he said that we should enter through a small gate and walk on a narrow road, because that is the road that leads to life. The broad way leads to destruction.

Some people look at that verse from Matthew 7, and they think it means that choosing to be a Christ-follower means you have to live a very restricted, legalistic life with lots of dos and don’ts, lots of rules and regulations, and a life that is just no fun. But that is not what Jesus said about the narrow road. He said that while not many choose the narrow road, the fact is that the narrow road leads to life. Jesus said he came to give us abundant life, not to rain on our parades or lead us to a dull existence.

For many years I thought the broad road was the one I wanted. I wanted to be in charge of my life and make my decisions about which road I would take and where that road would lead me. And I tried it for about ten years. But what I discovered was that my road—the road that looked broad and easy—was the road to heartache and disappointment. I found out that I had been deceived by that road which looked so inviting. Eventually it was empty and full of despair.

Have you been traveling down the wrong road, thinking you could find happiness and life on the broad way? Well, I want to invite you to join us April 19 -21 for our 25th Annual Weekend Getaway where our theme for this year is “The Life You Were Meant to Live.” So many of us feel like we’ve missed it or we’ve blown our chances to find that meaningful, abundant life, but not so! Jesus is waiting to show us the small gate and the narrow road that leads to life—and the joy that awaits us on that road.
Kay Arthur is going to be with us for this landmark 25th Weekend Getaway, and she is most qualified to show us what it means to be a Christ-follower, and how the narrow road of the Christian journey is the road to joy and peace. You just don’t want to miss this opportunity to hear Kay in person. She founded Precept Ministries and for many years has been faithfully proclaiming God’s truth. You will be blessed by her ministry. In addition, Damaris Carbaugh joins us again with her music, and we have a truly outstanding program planned for you.
