PROGRAM D-8425
If I could sing, I would right now want to sing “How can I say thanks for the things you have done for me?” To God be the glory! That’s because we celebrate this month thirty-five years since this program began in 1984.
Words really do fail to express both my gratitude to God and my amazement at how he has allowed me to be a part of what he wants to do through this program. It’s been a great ride—with lots of ups and downs, and a few days when I wanted to run away—but mostly days filled with joy and thankfulness for the privilege of ministering to so many through radio, internet, conferences, books, Bible studies, and all the various ways our ministry reaches out.
My story and the story of this ministry is simply a testimony to God’s amazing grace. Not only was I totally unqualified to begin a radio ministry—I knew nothing about radio and had no contacts in Christian radio—but I was also totally undeserving. Having been raised in a wonderful Christian home, graduated from a Christian college, and been involved in good churches all my life, I decided at one point to do my own thing and put God in the backseat of my life. I wanted success and money, and I wanted to find a man to make me happy.
For ten long years I strayed from God’s path and my life was not a testimony for Jesus. I was in the workplace, but I was not salt and light because I was living for me, not for Jesus. But thank God, he patiently waited until I came to the end of my rope and, when I repented and came back to him, his wonderful grace has allowed me the privilege to be a part of what he is doing.
I’m living proof that God can use anybody. If you think you’ve messed up so much that God is through with you, think again. Come back to Jesus, give him total control of your life, immerse yourself in the Word of God and in caring and loving others, and you won’t believe what God can do for you and through you.
