PROGRAM D-8343

Have you ever been a fanatic? Most of us are fanatical about something or other, and I’m encouraging you to become a fanatical encourager. We reap what we sow, so if you need encouragement, the best way to be encouraged is to encourage others. As you sow encouragement, you will reap encouragement.

I’ve given you several practical things you can do to become a fanatical encourager. Here are a couple more:

Become fanatical about listening to others.

A listening ear can be one of the most encouraging things you can give to someone. Work at improving your listening skills. The Bible says to be quick to listen and slow to speak (James 1:19). Pray about improving your listening skills. You will definitely be a better encourager if you’re a good listener.

Become fanatical about passing along encouraging material.

When you read something encouraging, pass it on. I’m not suggesting you flood all your friends’ email boxes each day. I’m suggesting you become intentional about passing encouragement to specific people as God puts them on your mind.

To help you do this, we’ve prepared ten pass-along encouragement cards for you to distribute. They have a scripture verse on them and a word of hope. You can sign them and hand them out or mail them. We’re glad to send these to you if—and only if—you will promise to pass them along as God prompts you.
