Do you really believe that you are precious to God? The Bible tells us that we are precious to God, but some of us have trouble believing it.
We all need someone to value us, to appreciate us, and to tell us we’re doing a good job. Here’s the good news: The God of all the universe knows your thoughts before you think them; he knows how many hairs are on your head; he knows when you sit and rise; he is intimately acquainted with all your ways; and he loves you with a love that cannot and will not change. You are precious to God!
It always comforts me to know that God knows the worst about me. . .and he loves me still!
Some things are loved because they are valuable, and some things are valuable because they are loved. You and I are valuable, we are worthwhile and treasured, and we are precious because we are loved by God. It doesn’t matter what others may think about our value; if God values us, loves us, and keeps his eye upon us, we are precious because we are loved by God.
Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. . . (Isaiah 49:15-16)
Did any mother ever forget her nursing child? Maybe you could forget a five-year-old for a minute or two, or a twenty-three-year-old for an hour or two. But could you ever forget a child you are nursing? No, even the worst mother couldn’t do that. But even if they would forget, God will not forget you!
God has engraved—that means it’s permanent, non-erasable, can’t wash it off—he has engraved you on the palms of his hands. Why? Because you are precious to him—valued by him, and counted worthy by him.
If you will accept that by faith today, you can start down the path of freedom.
