PROGRAM D-7055

If you’re a Christ-follower, you have the presence of the living God with you at all times because you have the Spirit of Christ.  Do you live each moment in the reality of his presence?

A little book by an old saint, Brother Lawrence, offers some good advice.  Quoting Brother Lawrence:

Our sanctification does not depend upon changing what we do, but in doing that for God’s sake which we commonly do for our own.

By practicing the presence of Jesus, we turn the ordinary duties of our daily lives into holy and worthwhile endeavors.  It transforms your life.

What will happen if I practice the presence of Jesus?

There are many promises for those who practice the presence of Jesus.  Here are a few of them:

Psalm 31:19-20:  How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.  In the shelter of your presence you hide them from the intrigues of men; in your dwelling you keep them safe from accusing tongues.

Do you have some people in your life who are trying to do you harm?  Do you work in a situation where company politics is epidemic, and there’s lots of scheming and discrimination?  In the presence of the Lord those things cannot reach you or harm you.

Psalm 89:15-16:  Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord.  They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness.

You will be blessed—happy—when you walk in the light of his presence.  All day long—that includes your home, your job, shopping, sleeping—all day long you will be rejoicing.

Psalm 16:11:  “You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

When you practice the presence of Jesus, you’ll know the right paths to take.  And you’ll be filled with joy.

As Brother Lawrence put it:

There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet and delightful than that of a continual conversation with God.

I pray you will be committed to having a continual conversation with God today whatever you have to do.  I know that as you learn to practice the presence of God, you’re going to know a new richness in walking with Jesus.
