Learning to Practice Love

Jul 2, 2012

What we do counts for a big zero if we don’t practice love on a consistent basis. How in the world do we learn to practice love? We want encourage you to begin by reading 1 Corinthians 13 every day for at least the next 30 days. The more you read it and meditate on the overwhelming importance of love, the more you’re going to want to love.  This simple chart will help you learn to practice love—love as described in 1 Corinthians 13. And that will be transforming in your own...

What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do

Jun 4, 2012

Dear Friend, What do you do when you don’t know what to do? I’ve been there many times—facing a decision or a potential catastrophe and not knowing which way to turn. I’m sure you have as well. It’s life, as we say. However, as disciples of Jesus Christ, we need to know in advance the biblical response we should have when we don’t know what to do. There is an incredible account in 2 Chronicles 20 of Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, who faced the possibility that his entire army and country could be annihilated by oncoming enemies, and he admitted he didn’t know what to do. But from his response we have an incredible example of what we should do when we don’t know what to do. The below attachment is a synopsis of the message I have given on this topic to remind you of what to do when you don’t know what to do. I hope you’ll find it helpful. After reading my book, Looking with Forever Eyes, a friend wrote: I can’t count how many times I have gotten into situations since I read your book where I just said to myself, “Remember, look at this through forever eyes,” and whatever I was feeling, it just melted away. It’s a wonderful principle to remember. I can attest to the truth of what Carol wrote. Whenever we get an eternal perspective, it greatly improves our response and behavior. We truly need your support now. I’m praying you’ll sincerely consider how you can help us financially this month. And of course, your prayers for us, and particularly my upcoming trip to Africa, are greatly needed and appreciated.   Are you in need of some rest today? Are you tired of trying to fight your own battles? Are you weary of losing them? Maybe it’s time you followed Jehoshaphat’s example and release the problem to God and let him fight the battle for you. You do have to show up; you do have to obey; you do have to march to the battlefield. But you don’t have to fight. It’s God’s fight, not yours. But first you must let go and give him control. I want you to know that I practice these seven R’s frequently, and when I do, I always find it to be the cure for my grasshopper disease. It’s a great stress buster; it’s a great way to reduce your blood pressure. But mostly, it’s a great way to show God that you trust him. To help you remember these seven R’s, we’ve designed a bookmark for you that you can keep handy, to remind you of what you need to do when you’re discouraged and ready to give up....
