PROGRAM D-7129

Occasionally someone will ask me how I began this program, as they are interested in having a program of their own.  Well, it began with a simple Monday night Bible study in my home many years ago, where a few of us Christian working women gathered after a long day at work, and we studied God’s Word together, prayed together, supported each other, held each other accountable, and bonded together as sisters in Christ.

Then I began a monthly luncheon ministry at my church in Chicago for workplace women, because I recognized that we needed to be encouraged and strengthened in order to be God’s ambassadors on our jobs.  Eventually, as I listened to Christian radio, I thought it would be so good to have a program that spoke to us as well, and after many months of praying about it, God miraculously opened a door to start on one station in Chicago.  I never dreamed it would grow, but now we’re on about 400 stations throughout our country and internationally.

I want to assure you that this ministry is God’s work, not mine!  I was not in any way qualified or experienced to start a radio ministry, but God gave me the passion and he opened the doors.  I want to encourage you to pursue the passion that God has put on your heart.  Be willing to start small—start where you are—and just walk through the open doors God gives you.  Develop your skills and gifts so that you do everything with excellence, and simply pursue your passion.  Don’t let lack of money or time or resources keep you from doing what God wants you to do.

A new listener wrote to say:  “I am new to Mary’s work and just love her!  I stumbled onto her book Common Mistakes Singles Make at a used clothing store and as a single mother with three kids and divorced for nine years, it was a great blessing!  Now I get her transcripts and look forward to more wonderful material.  What a great addition she is to my life!”

Obviously, God directed her to that book and then to our website—and by the way, that book is still available.  www.christianworkingwoman.org
