It doesn’t take much to ruin a good day, does it? And the truth is, life is full of days that leave us disappointed or discouraged or sad, for one reason or another. How do you deal with bad days?

In Romans 15:4 we read:

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

The Scriptures are there to bring us encouragement and hope, and that’s what we need on bad days, isn’t it? I want to give you five Bible passages for bad days. Whatever you’re going to face this week, God is going to be there with you and his word will strengthen you.

Here’s the first Bible passage for bad days, Matthew 6:25-26:

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

No matter how crazy you may feel today, how alone, how needy or worried you are, you have a heavenly Father who watches over you, whose ear is attentive to your cry, and who totally understands how you feel.

Have you done any bird-watching lately? There are lots of them out there—from little colorless sparrows to bright red robins and amazing hummingbirds—they are there by the millions. And God your Father feeds them. They don’t have to do anything but feed on the goodness of God’s nature. Are you not more valuable than all those little birds?

Of course you are. You have a Heavenly Father who is totally trustworthy and even on a bad day, nothing can separate you from his love. Even on your worst day, you are loved and cared for by the God of the universe. So, whenever that bad day comes your way, don’t forget that you’re more valuable to God than birds.
