PROGRAM D-6775

I want to challenge you to start talking about Jesus more and more. I’m not referring to what we often think of as witnessing to people, pinning them down and asking them if they’re a Christian. I’m just trying to get us to focus on making Jesus a topic of conversation, frequently and naturally, as a logical outgrowth of our relationship with him.

You see, many people don’t want to talk about religions; many have very negative conceptions of Christians; many are ready to attack anything or anyone that smacks of being born-again or being an evangelical Christian. But if we can shift the focus to Jesus—the God-Man—and simply let people know that we are Christ-followers because Jesus is beautiful, Jesus is wonderful, Jesus has changed us—the beauty of Jesus will attract people to him.

Jesus said, “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself” (John 12:32). Jesus is so attractive, so compelling that when we simply lift him up, talk about him, let it be known that he has given us new life and we are his disciples, he will draw people to himself. Jesus is the only hope for this world. He alone offers life and peace and has the ability to fulfill his offer. He is the only one who can free people from sin and guilt and their past. He alone can offer eternal life.

Here’s a challenge I want to give you. There are four Gospels in the New Testament which are all about Jesus, and there are 89 chapters in those four gospels. It will take you 30 days to read all four gospels if you read three chapters each day. So, for the next thirty days, read three chapters in the Gospels, starting in Matthew right through John.

Start a new journal as you begin this, and write down what you think and feel as you read about Jesus. Pretend you’ve never read these chapters before and you are just being introduced to this incredible Man, Jesus Christ. Keep a record of what you see about Jesus with your fresh eyes and with thirty days of concentrated focus.

I am doing this along with you, and I would love to hear from you if you take this challenge. In fact, if you do, when you complete the 89 chapters, let me know and I’ll send you one of our free books. I truly believe that our biggest need is to know Jesus better, love Jesus more—which happens when you know him better—and then just share Jesus with our worlds. It’s all about Jesus.
