I’ve been sharing a conversation with Afton, a friend of mine who is definitely an introvert. In talking about how extroverts and introverts relate, she made this point.
Afton: And things come more easily to extroverts and I just want to create an awareness that quiet souls have a lot to offer. They are thinkers, they are processors internally, and if there’s a way to pull them out, we can learn a lot from them.
Mary: And you’re also great listeners which is one of the best gifts you can give a person, just to listen to them.
Afton: Yes, and we call listening the introverts’ “super-power.”
Don’t you like that? Listening is an introvert’s “super-power.” And all of us can work to become good listeners, even if we’re not introverts who find it easier. I know that I have to teach myself to listen. So, people who are really good listeners are such a gift to the body of Christ.
