I wonder how many of you have an adult child that you would call your prodigal son or daughter? I personally know so many parents whose hearts are broken because their adult child has turned their back on the Gospel and is living, as the Bible says, “in a far country,” away from the Christian principles and lifestyle that they were taught.
Well, Angela Yuan has an amazing story to tell of her years of praying and pleading for her prodigal son, Christopher. The title of their book gives you some insight into their journey. It is Out of a Far Country: A Gay Son’s Journey to God, a Broken Mother’s Search for Hope. Now God is using both Angela and Christopher to encourage others to know that there is hope and there is a way back from that far country.
I’m so glad that Angela is going to be with us for our 27th annual weekend getaway, which is just about a month away now. It is April 17 – 19 here in the Chicago area. We meet at a lovely hotel, with great food and wonderful fellowship, and you will be able to hear Angela in person tell how she faced those many years while her son was in “a far country,” and how God miraculously has answered her prayers. When Angela spoke at my church recently, she encouraged all of us to trust in the God who answers prayer. You will be so blessed to hear her story.
In addition, Jill Briscoe will be with us with her godly wisdom and we have a weekend planned to inspire, encourage, and equip you to live with Fearless Joy – that’s our theme. Fearless Joy, and I believe you will leave the weekend ready to face your life with renewed joy that is free from fear.
