PROGRAM D-7270

One of my passions is to encourage workplace believers to see their jobs as the place where God has sent them to be a light in a dark world.  We have opportunities to share our faith in Christ with people who we would never otherwise be able to reach.  So I’ve shared with you some creative door openers—ways to break down walls and open up communication.

I want to urge you to seriously consider this last idea:

Idea #6:  Start a Prayer Partnership for Your Coworkers

More important than anything else is to put a lot of consistent prayer into these projects and ideas.  And it’s always helpful to have a prayer partner or two who pray with you.  If you have a Christian friend on your job, that is an ideal way to structure special prayer for your coworkers and your company.  Just establish one day a week where you meet during lunch or before work to pray for half an hour.  This should be done quietly; it’s almost best if no one knows that you’re meeting to pray.  You want to pray, not to impress anyone, but to release the power of God on you and the people you work with.

I know of several teams of Christians who meet for breakfast once a week as a support and prayer group.  They work at different jobs, and come together to share ideas and to encourage each other.  If you can put that into your schedule, it can really work well.

At the very least, set aside one lunch period per week to pray exclusively for your coworkers, even if it’s just you by yourself.  Not only is this going to open up God’s power in your relationships with these people, it is also going to keep you compassionate and caring toward them.

With all of these ideas the essential element is realness and motivation.  If you combine creative door openers with a true love and concern for the people you are trying to reach, you will be used mightily in the lives of people around you.

Remember, no one is in your life by accident, so, like the Apostle Paul, ask God to help you become “all things to all those people” so that by all possible means you might save some.  It’s a great and wonderful privilege to share the truth of what Jesus has done in your life.  Don’t miss your opportunities.
