PROGRAM D-7670

What is the name of your boss or manager? If you’re a believer through faith in Jesus Christ, your answer should be, “I work for Jesus.” I’m talking about living for The Day, not today—living for the day when we will stand before Jesus at the Judgment Seat of Christ to give an account for how well we’ve spent our earthly lives investing in eternal activity. We’ve looked in the Bible at several specific things that will be rewarded then. And here’s another one

  1. Working for the Lord

Colossians 3:22 – 24:

Slaves (Employees), obey your earthly masters in everything, and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

If you report to an earthly manager, let me ask you, do you gripe and complain about that manager? Do you work hard even when he or she is not watching? Well, this passage tells us that if we’re living for The Day, not today, then no matter where we work, we should be working for Jesus, and we should be doing our work for him, not for that earthly manager. If you take that attitude with you to work each day, you’re going to be rewarded for it at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Now, that should motivate you to live for The Day, not today, and it should have a very positive effect on how you behave on your job.

These are some of the things we find in Scripture which will be recognized and rewarded on The Day. Therefore, we can decide, here and now, whether we want to live for THE day or live for today. We can decide if we want to make sure we qualify for these various crowns and rewards. We can do well at the Judgment Seat of Christ, or we can barely squeak through.

Let me advise you that Living for THE day will cost you today! There is a price to be paid. But dear friend, it will be worth it all when we see Jesus, and it will take a lot of stress and worry out of your life today if you live for The Day. I hope you will decide to do just that.
