Are you in need of some special protection and help today? I have just what you need—Psalm 91. “A Psalm a day keeps the stress away,” and Psalm 91 is such wonderful comfort. I encourage you to read the entire Psalm.

Consider these verses: If you make the Most High your dwelling—even the Lord, who is my refuge—then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

Did you know—do you believe—that the Lord can and will command his angels to guard you and to keep you from harm? My husband and I have been memorizing this Psalm, and it just amazes me every time I quote it, to think that God cares enough about me to send angels to guard me and keep me from harm.

What harm is heading your way today? Is it the threat of financial disaster, or a health problem? Could it be that an important relationship seems to be falling apart? Claim God’s promise to command—not just suggest, but command his angels to guard you and to lift you up. That lift may not be literal, but it is certainly spiritual. Those angels are sent to lift your spirits and give you hope and protect you. Just meditate on that for a few minutes; it will reduce your stress!

Verse 2 of Psalm 91 has to become your mantra: I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

It will do you worlds of good to simply quote that many times during the day, because hearing those words in your mind and ears will reinforce the truth that God has your back—he’s there for you. It will help you learn to trust God more and more, and trusting God is our greatest challenge. Learning to truly believe that he is trustworthy and his promises are true is the basic building block of finding peace and freedom from stress.

Remember, a Psalm a day keeps the stress away. Try it and see how true that is.
