PROGRAM D-7669

Are you living for today or for The Day? If you’re born from above, then you should be living for The Day. The Day is also called The Judgment Seat of Christ, and that is the time when we will stand before our Lord to give an account of how we’ve lived down here as believers. And that is when we will be given rewards for certain things.

For example,

  1. Living a humble life.

Matthew 6:3 – 4:

“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Matthew 6:6:

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then you Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Matthew 6:17 – 18:

“But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Those who do things for the praise of people get their rewards here, but they forfeit their reward in heaven. When we live a truly humble life and do what we do to please Jesus, he is pleased and will reward us for it. Do you seek the praise of people, or would you rather please Jesus?

We are rewarded by the person whose praise we seek.

  1. Loving like Jesus

Luke 6:32 – 36:

“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? . . .And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? . . . But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”

Normal human love is nothing to pat you on the back for. But when you love your enemies, then your reward will be great.

Anybody in your life right now who you’re having trouble loving? It could be a coworker, a family member, even someone close to you who is making your life difficult. Well, if you can show love to that unlovable person, you’re doing something worthy of a reward. Remember, when you do that, you’re living for The Day not today, and you will receive a reward from Jesus.
