PROGRAM D-7667

Did you know that even for Christians, a judgment day is coming? Jesus has told us how to prepare for judgement day. It is called the Judgment Seat of Christ, or The Day, and the good news is that your sins will not be on trial. If you are born from above, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, then your sins will not be brought up at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

The Christian life is a race and we are here on this earth to run the race before us. And on The Day we will cross the finish line and we’ll stand before Jesus and he will reward us for what we did of eternal significance in his power while we were still on earth. If that were to happen today, how do you think you would do?

My challenge to us is to live for The Day, not for today. Therefore, we need to know what will be important on The Day. Let’s see what the Bible says will be evaluated then:

  1. Longing for the Appearance of Jesus

2 Timothy 4:7-8:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing”

There is a crown awaiting those who live today longing for the appearance of Jesus. John wrote:

“We know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure” (1 John 3:2-3).

You know, when things get tough and you wish you could run away, just remember that someday Jesus will appear and we will be delivered from this sin-infested world. As I’m bombarded by this broken world, I often just quietly say, “Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.” That will help you live for The Day, and not today, and it will keep you pure, as you remember that you will give an account at his appearing.

  1. Enduring Persecution

Matthew 5:11-12 –

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Jesus said that our reward will be great in heaven if we are persecuted falsely, for righteousness sake. Ever been fired for your faith; ostracized by your family or friends because of your faith? If you or I truly suffer because we are true to our Christian principles, we will be rewarded on The Day. So, remember to live for The Day, not today.
