PROGRAM D-7319

Louise has invited Fran to join David and her for lunch, and Fran agrees to do so.  As she arrives at the coffee shop next door, Louise introduces her to David.  They have a lively conversation over lunch, and Fran is impressed with David.

That evening she calls Louise and says, “No wonder you like him so much, Louise.  What a nice man.  I’m so happy for you.”

“Oh, Fran,” Louise responds, “thank you for calling.  I can’t tell you how much it meant to me that you came to lunch to meet David.  I was a little afraid to ask you, but. . .”

“Listen, Louise,” Fran say, “I was in a bad way earlier.  Frankly I was struggling with jealousy.  But the Lord really pinned me against the wall and showed me how selfish I was, and I apologize to you for my jealous streak.  But I really do like David.”

“Fran, I understand,” Louise says.  “You’ve been through so much and you deserve a good man more than I do.  I’m sure God has someone for you. .”

Fran interrupts her.  “You know, Louise, you’re so sweet to think of me, but I want to be the kind of friend who really can rejoice with the good things that happen to my friends just as quickly as I rejoice at the good things that happen to me.  Whether or not God has someone for me isn’t the issue.  I’m just happy for you, Louise.”

“Fran, who knows; maybe you and Barry will get together yet,” Louise adds.

Fran smiles and quietly says to the Lord, “Whatever you want, Lord, that’s what I want.”
