Program D-7622

How’s your day going? Having a good day—things going your way, people treating you good, bright sunshine? Or maybe not. Lots of days aren’t so sunny, are they? We all have to deal with bad days from time to time.

I’m offering you Bible verses for bad days, verses you can turn to no matter what’s going wrong and you’ll find comfort and encouragement and hope. Here’s a passage you will need when you feel like your day is just totally out of your control, from Psalm 121:

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber.

You know, the focus of your eyes often determines the condition of your heart. When you are focused on your circumstances, on other people, on your fears, then that’s going to make you feel helpless and out of control. But keeping your eyes fixed on God, no matter what’s going on, will keep you from giving up, throwing up your hands in frustration and walking out—on one of those bad days when everything seems out of control.

Lift your eyes—literally look up—and talk to yourself. Where does your help come from? From the One who created the heaven and the earth. I mean, this is no ordinary helper we’re talking about here. This is the God of all creation, who created you, who knows you better than you know yourself, and who will not let your foot slip—will not!

This could really go a long way toward turning a bad day into a good one. I recommend it.
