PROGRAM D-7974

Whom did you encourage and build up today or yesterday? If we’re living by 1 Thessalonians 5:11, we ought to be able to identify some person or people whom we have encouraged or built up recently. This verse says, “Therefore encourage one another and build up one another…” How about it? Are you an encourager?

We’ve developed a wonderful tool that could help you become more of an encourager—especially on your job. It’s a set of cards called Pass-Along Encouragement, containing 15 cards, each with different words of encouragement on it.

I’d love to send you these special cards—provided you will sincerely make an effort to give away five cards each week, praying first about to whom and when to give the cards. This means that in three weeks or so, you should have distributed all the cards. Just think about it: you will have given out fifteen positive words of encouragement and scripture verses. Don’t you think that could be mightily used by God to transform some relationships and maybe even the morale where you work?

One of these cards says, “Your joyful attitude and kind spirit spill over to others in the workplace,” and the verse on that card is Philippians 4:4: “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again?  Rejoice!” If there is a person for or with whom you work who really does keep a good attitude most of the time, don’t you think they would love to be recognized for that beautiful spirit? It’s not easy to stay positive in a negative world, is it? A word of gratitude from you could truly mean a lot to that person.

Another card says, “God has blessed you in many ways—with talents, love, and understanding.” The scripture verse is James 1:17: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” So often we think nice things about people but we don’t express them. This card could help you tell one of your coworkers how you admire their gifts and abilities.
