PROGRAM D-7972

You know the old song which says at home on the range, “There never is heard a discouraging word”? Well, I don’t know where that range is, but it’s my experience that our worlds are full of discouraging words, especially our work-worlds. I believe there is a need for marketplace Christians to become marketplace encouragers!

I have something to help you encourage others. It is a pack of Pass-Along Encouragement cards—cards which you can pass-along to coworkers for the purpose of encouraging them. All you have to do to receive your set of Pass-Along Encouragement cards is to promise that you will make a sincere effort to give away five of these cards each week until they are gone, choosing an appropriate coworker or friend who needs or deserves some encouragement.

Let me share a couple of these cards with you and give you some ideas of how you might use them.

On one side of each card is a quote or saying, and on the other is a coordinating scripture verse. This one says, “God will give you the strength you need to persevere. Don’t be afraid to pick yourself back up and try again.” The scripture passage is Psalm 37:23-24: “If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”

Know anyone who has failed lately? Know anyone who thinks they just can’t try again, because they didn’t succeed before? You could greatly encourage them by simply giving them this card. They need to know that all is not lost—they can go from where they are.

Maybe the workload has become very difficult lately and one of your coworkers is really struggling under the load. Here’s a card that could be just right for that person. It says, “When work becomes worrisome, know that God will be by your side.” The verse on the other side is Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

You may be thinking that it will take some courage to pass out these cards, but that’s where you rely on God: He will give you the wisdom to know to whom and when to give a card, and supply you with the courage to do it. This could then lead you to pray more for your coworkers, learn to rely on God more, and learn that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Are you willing to give it a try? If you will sincerely make a commitment to use these cards as a way of passing on encouragement to your coworkers, then I’ll be glad to send you these Pass-Along Encouragement cards.

I am praying that you will take this challenge to become a better workplace encourager.
